A Journey Towards Change . . .
Before we move forward, allow me to introduce myself to you…
I believe that change is one of the hardest but eventually most rewarding experiences a person can have in their life. For any type of change to happen in our lives, we must be willing to step outside of the comfort zones we create for ourselves and learn new skills that we can move forward with. My objective in therapy is to provide a holistic approach, incorporating Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness and empowering principles in order to integrate therapeutic measures to focus on the whole system: mind, body and spirit.
I approach counseling as though each client is “unique” and not a product of their diagnosis. I have practiced the above therapies successfully with children, adolescents and adults by empowering them to decrease their anxiety, depression and trauma symptoms, increasing frustration tolerance and eliminating harmful substance abuse, among other presenting mental health issues. Mindfulness is the key to understanding not only your surroundings but also being able to identify your feelings, triggers and the calming techniques that will help you move forward in life with confidence.
Fun Facts: I enjoy playing Role-Playing games like Elder Scrolls Online on the PlayStation 4 with my husband and our friends. I also enjoy being artistic and creating beautiful and memorable pieces of art such as pictures with “Diamond Art”, “Pennies from Heaven” memory plaques among other things. I am an animal lover and am the “mom” to my “fur-baby”, an English Bulldog named Winnie.
Education & Training: I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 2013. I achieved my Master of Arts Degree in Guidance and Counseling with a Concentration in Clinical Mental Health as well as a Graduate Certificate in Dynamics of Family and Domestic Violence from Louisiana Tech University in 2016. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC #6678) registered with the Louisiana Board of Examiners. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC # 718670) registered with the National Board for Certified Counselors.
